Palm Sunday

As we come closer to Easter Sunday, I want you to learn and understand why Jesus suffered on the cross for you and me. Why did Jesus have to die?

As Jesus came into the city. The people were weeping with sorrow the Jesus said to them. Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and Lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turned to joy. Judas had betrayed Jesus with the high priest to give Jesus up for 30 pieces of silver. Judas relationship with the devil will soon find him, not fully understanding the deal that transpired would surely cost him dearly.
Note; think about what Judas has done, he really sold himself to the devil for 30 pieces of silver..

John18:1-11 the arrest of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane near Jerusalem
Jesus taken Peter, John and James with him to the garden locate at Brook Kidron, between Jerusalem and Mount Olives. That was a place where Jesus met with His disciple and Judas knew this place. Meanwhile in the garden Jesus was experiencing and feeling epic loneliness, and my soul is overwhelmed. He ask the three disciple to stay awake while He was praying. Jesus sadden by the fact he had to awaken his disciple twice.

Then Judas , having received a detachment of troop and officers of the chief priest and the Pharisees. Jesus therefore knew all things came upon them. Jesus went forward asking them. “ whom are you seeking?” they answered Him Jesus of Nazareth Jesus said “I am He” He reply twice “ I am He” the second time troop fell down. Jesus could have destroyed them right there , but he didn’t

note: Christ unveiled His majesty, His statement of deity I am , manifested such glory that it literally threw the soldiers to the ground. . Secondly,
Knowing all things – Knowing He was about to be arrested Jesus could have escaped, but He did not. He submitted Himself voluntarily to the ordeal that was ordained by God. Thirdly, the contrast between Peter and Jesus by fighting the guard Peter vehemently exercise his own self will; Jesus in contrast voluntarily submitted t the will of God. One swung of the sword of self-will, cutting off the right ear of one of the soldier. The other drank from the cup of god will. Ref: Matthew 16:22-23 Now in Luke 22:51 Jesus mercifully restored the soldier’s ear.

Reason why Jesus died for us:

1st Ephesians 5:25 – To show Gods love for us.

2nd Ezekiel 18:20 and 2Corinthians 5:21 - To receive the wrath of God.

3rd John 12: 31-32 and Colossians 2:14-15 Naturalize Satan and cancel the legal command against us. ( Jesus canceled all your debt) at the cross.

4th Jesus suffered and died for our sin to give us salvation and a path to the heavenly kingdom..

After this Joseph of Aimathea a rich man of the Jewish council and a secretly a disciple of Christ for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate to give him permission to take the body of Jesus, Pilate granted Joseph permission. Nicodemus secretly came to ask Jesus a personal question by night to avoid any outside witnesses who would identify him. Nicodemus provided myrrh and aloe about a hundred pound for Jesus body to bound it into strips of linen with the spices as a custom for the Jewish burial. The burial was located in a garden a new tomb and it wasn’t far from the where He was crucified in the garden.

Note: During the crucifixion there were only one disciple present, He dearly loved was John. Accompanied Jesus mother Mary. Where Jesus place His mother Mary in the care of John.

While it was still dark Mary Magdalene arrived ahead of the other women to the tomb. She noticed the stone was removed from the tomb. Then she ran back to inform Peter and the other disciples. Peter and the disciple ran to the tomb, Peter lagged behind and arrived after everyone else. Note: Peter after denying Jesus three time and was ashamed and despaired to face Jesus. But curious to find out what happen to His body. Peter was first to enter the tomb and saw the linen cloth were lying there. Later the two Angels appeared to Mary when she was sitting outside looking into the tomb one sitting where Jesus head would be, the other at the feet they ask her why are you weeping. When she turned around and saw person she didn’t recognize. He said woman why are you weeping. She replied that Jesus body has been taken away. When Jesus said Mary name she identified His voice and Said Rabboni.(teacher) Jesus asked her not to cling to Him because He hasn’t ascended to the Father yet!
